Medical Assistant - PRN Weekdays 


SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, this position in the organization is expected to independently carry out all duties in an ethical manner, ensuring patient safety, privacy, dignity and confidentiality. The functions of the PCT/ MA are to observe and effectively communicate changes in patientís condition to the Registered Nurse and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Tasks include performing procedures that include but not limited to phlebotomy, intermittent cathetrization (IC), reporting clinical observations and assisting with activities of daily living. The PCT/MA is expected to practice standard precaution and isolation procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patientís, visitors and staff . The Patient Care Technician interacts with and contributes to the professional development and image of all unit staff practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. CNA preferred.
Experience: One (1) year hospital or long term care experience preferred.

Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant/ PCT, nursing school students with one (1) semester of clinical instruction, LPN, or equivalent experience.
