Recreation Therapist 

SUMMARY:

Responsible for evaluating each patient (adolescent, adult, geriatric) assigned, determining short-term and long-term goals in conjunction with the patient and other SC team members, and developing and implementing a comprehensive treatment program to meet these goals with moderate direct supervision. Responsible for planning and implementing TR programs and events to meet the needs of patients and the appropriate disabled community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelorís degree from accredited program in Therapeutic Recreation or related specialty field.
Experience: Three years experience in ABI or SCI specific to the lead SCI or lead ABI Recreation Therapy position. The Lead Internship position must three years experience and have had at least one TR intern at Shepherd Center to apply for the education lead TR Therapist position. 

Certification: Certification by NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist recommended. CPR certification required (provided by SC). 
Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of therapeutic recreation and/or related specialty field as it relates to spinal cord injury and brain injury preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail necessary.
Work Environment: Office environment, patient rooms, therapy gym, outdoors (parks, campgrounds), community (restaurants, shops), gym, track and pool.

Other: Membership and active participation in professional organization preferred. Current Georgia driverís license and insurable by SCís insurance policy preferred. Verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively. Physical ability to perform job requirements.
